Thailand sweep Việt Nam 5-0 in Asian badminton event

Việt Nam lost to Thailand 5-0 in the first match of Group C of the  Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships held in HCM City yesterday.

HÀ NỘI —Thailand beat Việt Nam 5-0 in the first Group C match of Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships held in HCM City yesterday.

In the men’s doubles, Dương Bảo Minh and Dương Bảo Đức lost to Kittinupong Kedren and Nipiphon Phuangphuapet 18-21, 21-17, 22-24.

In the women’s singles, Vũ Thị Trang, world No 39, was defeated by world No 12 Busana Ongbamrungphan 21-15, 21-18.

In the men’s singles, Suppanyu Avihingsanon defeated Vietnamese top player Nguyễn Tiến Minh, world No 44, 24-22, 21-9.

In the women’s doubles, Trang and Nguyễn Thị Sen were bested by Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongja 21-13, 21-8.

In the last category, mixed doubles, Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai beat Đỗ Tuấn Đức and Phạm Như Thảo 21-8, 21-16.

Thirteen countries are vying for the honour of being Asia’s best mixed team.

The tournament, which is held at the Nguyễn Du Gymnasium, is being broadcast live in nine countries and territories. — VNS
