HÀ NỘI — Đinh Hồng Vinh has been appointed head coach of the national U19 squad, which will undergo a training course in China next month.
These players have been promoted from the U16 team, which advanced to the quarterfinals of last year’s Asian championship. It was the second time in six years that Việt Nam reached this round of the tournament.
Vinh was previously assistant for coach Hoàng Anh Tuấn, who took charge of the U19s during their Asian tournament which saw them winning a ticket to the World Cup U20 later this year in South Korea. His squad, according to the Việt Nam Football Federation, are the core of the U23 and senior teams, which will participate in key events in the near future.
Tuấn was recently promoted as assistant of national head coach Nguyễn Đức Thắng, who has also taken charge of the U22 squad.
Tuấn is busy with the U22s, who will be summoned early next month to prepare for a friendly match against Malaysia on February 7, nearly at the same time as the U19s. — VNS
