HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội T&T have ended their contract with Argentinian player Victor Ormazabal just a few weeks ahead of the new season.
Ormazabal lost his position after the V.League champions signed a contract with striker Moses Oloya last week.
Oloya used to be the No. 1 player of former champions Becamex Bình Dương before he left Việt Nam to play for Kuban Krasnodar FC in Russia early this year.
V.League will begin on January 8, and Hà Nội T&T, who plan to change their name to Hà Nội FC, will play Quảng Ninh Coal in the first match on home turf.
They will also compete in the AFC Champions League. In the qualifying round, they will play against hosts Kitchee FC in Hong Kong on January 31, the fourth day of Lunar New Year. If they win, coach Chu Đình Nghiêm and his team will face South Korea’s Jeju United on away ground on February 7. Only a win can push them to the main round’s group stage. If they lose, they will be dropped to the AFC Cup. — VNS
