HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s national football team defeated Seoul FC 3-0 in a friendly match yesterday in Paju, South Korea.

Midfielder Phạm Văn Quyết scored twice while Vũ Minh Tuấn took the third goal.

While coach Nguyễn Hữu Thắng used all of his best players, Seoul FC chose to field some younger members, resting the seniors who had just participated in the AFC Champions League.

Quyết opened the scoring in the 37th minute, from a one-on-one situation with the host’s goalkeeper.

He assisted Tuấn to make it 2-0 just five minutes after the interval.

With seven changes in the second half, Việt Nam continued dominating the match and found their third goal at the 78th minute mark.

Âu Văn Hoàn made a perfect pass into the box, with Quyết easily heading it into the net.

Việt Nam will have their second and third matches against a team from Jeonju University on October 25 and Pocheon FC three days later. — VNS
