Jumper Nhàn qualifies for Rio Paralympics

Nguyễn Thị Nhàn has won Việt Nam’s 10th slot to compete at the upcoming Brazilian Paralympic Games later this year.

HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Thị Nhàn has won Việt Nam’s 10th slot to compete at the upcoming Brazilian Paralympic Games later this year.

National Paralympics Committee for Việt Nam’s Vũ Thế Phiệt has confirmed the news with journalists.

Long jumper Nhàn will compete in the T11 category for visually impaired competitors.

Nhàn has been training in athletics for nearly 10 years. She grabbed a gold medal at the regional Para Games in 2014 in Singapore, a bronze at the Para Games in 2011 in Indonesia, as well as many titles at different international competitions.

Previously, two track-and-field athletes earned their places together with four swimmers and three powerlifters. — VNS
