HÀ NAM — The National Youth Rowing and Canoeing Championships have opened with over 400 athletes from 32 provinces and cities across the country competing.
The championships, taking place in Ba Sao Town, Kim Bảng District, have been organised by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Việt Nam Rowing Federation, and Tam Chúc Tourism Services Company Limited.
For rowing, there are featured 24 events for the under 18 and under 23 age groups for both men and women across a 2,000m distance. The canoeing championship, has 32 competitions for the under 18s and 36 events for those under 22, for both men and women in both canoes and kayaks.
The rowing will finish on August 23, while the canoeing races will take place from August 25 to 30.
The National Youth Rowing and Canoeing Championship aims to promote the development of rowing and canoeing training nationwide. It also provides opportunities for young athletes, including national youth teams, to compete, test and evaluate their training level, thereby selecting potential athletes to replace and supplement the national youth team in preparation for the national team.
