HÀ NỘI -- The National Baseball Clubs Championship 2024 will be held from July 24-28 in Đà Nẵng.
The annual tournament, known as the South Korea Ambassador Cup, will feature ten teams from Hà Nội, Thừa Thiên Huế, Đà Nẵng, Nha Trang, HCM City and the People's Police.
They will be divided into two groups, competing in the round robin format with the top teams of each group advancing to advance to the semi-finals.
Each match will have maximum seven innings or 150-minute limit, and no new inning to start after 120 minutes of play.
If it is a draw result after the official time, teams will play extra innings with tie-break rule applied.
The so-called mercy rule will be applied in the group round and semi-finals when two teams play four innings and there is a gap of 10 points between them.
In the final, teams will play seven innings, with the mercy rule and 120-minute new inning are not applied.
Organisers will present awards to the champions, silver and bronze medallists along with individual prizes such as MVP, best pitcher, best catcher, best young player and best line-up.
"The championship was organised twice in 2022 and 2023 under difficult conditions but with strong support of sponsors we made it successful," said Việt Nam Baseball and Softball Federation President Trần Đức Phấn.
"In this third time in Đà Nẵng, we will have better facilities and equipment and support from the local authority. We will also have ten referees from South Korea coming to the games."
The tournament is not only to promote the sport in Việt Nam but also to establish the national team to compete in international events. VNS
