HÀ NỘI - Nguyễn Thị Hương and Nguyễn Hồng Thái secured a silver medal from the 2024 Asian Canoe Sprint Championships which closed on April 21 in Tokyo, Japan.

The Vietnamese duo came second in the women's C2 500m event with a time of 2min 4.288sec at the Sea Forest Waterway.

They were more than 1sec slower than Kazakhstani Mariya Brovkova and Rufina Iskakova (2:03.247).

Indonesian Nurmeni Nurmeni and Sella Monim finished third, clocking 2:06.719.

This was Việt Nam's third medal after a silver by Nguyễn Hương in the women's C1 200m and gold by Diệp Thị Hương in the women's C1 500 events.

With one gold and two silvers, the team placed No 4 temporally in the medal tally.

Kazakhstan topped the ranking with six golds, followed by China with three golds and Uzbekistan with two golds. VNS
