CẦN THƠ — Phạm Ngọc Phan and Phạm Thị Thúy Hạnh won top prizes in the first VP Bank Cần Thơ Music Night Run on April 13 in Cần Thơ Province.

Ngọc finished the men's 21km category in 1hr 12.26min. He was nearly two minutes faster than Triệu Tiến Luyến who came second with a time of 1:14.15 and Nguyễn Đăng Khoa was third on 1:19.17.

Hạnh took the women's title after finishing with a time of 1:31.06. She was followed by Nguyễn Thị Trà Giang (1:32.19) and Nguyễn Thị Minh Hiền (1:34.45).

In the 10km categories, Nguyễn Duy Sáng took the men's podium after running in 37.35min while Lê Thị Nhân secured the women's one, timing 44.27min.

The 5km classes saw twins Mao Quốc Tiến and Mao Quốc Tới racing for the first place throughout the race. Tiến beat his sibling in the last seconds to win gold at 16.42min while Tới earn silver finishing just four seconds later.

The female winner was Nguyễn Đặng Yến Huỳnh who took 21.56min to complete her race.

About 1,500 children took part in the Kun Happy Run.

Earlier in the morning, a Kun Happy Run for children was organised, featuring 1,500 runners on a 800m route.

The first VPBank Cần Thơ Music Night Run saw around 5,000 athletes run during the two-day event with a total of VNĐ600 million in cash and gifts delivered to the high-ranking runners.

The tournament was organised for the first time in the form of a sports music festival combining running, singing, dancing and music, along with other activities.

The first Cần Thơ Music Run featureed about 5,000 runners in three categories.

The entire running track contained stations featuring street music stages, where bands rotated to perform throughout the race. The finish area was also the largest stage featuring many famous singers and bands, which heightened the emotions of both athletes and supporters.

The tournament was jointly held by the Cần Thơ City's Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, VPBank and Nexus Sport Events.

The tournament was strongly supported by title sponsor VPBank. After nearly a decade of being associated with marathons, VPBank has organised and accompanied 13 major tournaments nationwide, being one of national pioneering and experienced businesses in the running movement.

Tens of thousands of professional and amateur athletes have participated in running events by VPBank which also owns VPRun Club, one of largest running club in Việt Nam with more than 2,000 member. —VNS
