HCM CITY — Morocco won the International Futsal Friendly Tournament which wrapped up in HCM City on March 31.

The African representative defeated New Zealand 6-2 in the final match after beating powerful Iran 5-6 in the first game and drawing 3-3 with Việt Nam.

With seven points after three matches, the team ranked eight in the world walked away with US$5,000.

Also on March 31, Iran, world No 7, beat Việt Nam, No 33, 3-1 to take the second position and $3,000.

Việt Nam came third and pocketed $1,000.

The tournament was one of the activities in the Việt Nam Football Federation's plan to prepare for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup later this month in Thailand.

Việt Nam will play China, Myanmar and the hosts in the group stage. 

The two-time World Cup participating team target top four finish to qualify for the Uzbekistan 2024 World Cup from September 14 to October 6. VNS
