HÀ NỘI — The Vietnamese women's national football team ended the year in 37th place in the FIFA rankings, as announced by the world football's governing body.

They earned a total of 11.65 points but dropped from their previous position of 34th due to their underwhelming performance at the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD 19) and in the qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Despite these setbacks, this year marked a significant milestone for the national squad as they qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time. Their impressive performance at the international tournament captured the hearts of Vietnamese fans and garnered praise from global media.

Within Southeast Asia, the Vietnamese women's team maintained their position as the top-ranked team, with the Philippines close behind at 38th in the world and Thailand at 48th.

In terms of Asia as a whole, Vietnam secured the sixth position, trailing behind dominant teams such as Japan in first place, North Korea, Australia, China, and South Korea in second, third, fourth, and fifth place, respectively.

On a global scale, Spain retained the top spot, with the United States in second and France in third. VNS
