HÀ NỘI — A group of 22 Citi colleagues from London and Belfast have teamed up to embark on a challenging 400km cycling journey from Việt Nam to Cambodia with the goal of raising funds and awareness for the critical work done by Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie.

The team began their adventure in HCM City late last month and reached Siem Reap on December 5. Along the way, they cycled through Trà Vinh, Cần Thơ, Châu Đốc, Phnom Penh, Kompong Thom, and Angkor Wat, covering a total distance of 400km. The daily cycling distances ranged from 60km to 90km.

In preparation for the ride, the Citi colleagues diligently followed a rigorous training schedule for six months. Additionally, they organised a range of creative events and activities to raise funds, including bake sales, car washes, and comedy nights. As of now, they have successfully raised almost US$100,000 for Cancer Research UK and $10,000 for Marie Curie.

Cancer Research UK is a leading global cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence and information. Marie Curie is the foremost end-of-life charity in the UK, providing expert hospice care and advocating for a better end-of-life experience through research and policy change.

While this trip was not sponsored by Citi, the colleagues willingly took on this challenge during their vacation to support charitable causes. Citi strongly encourages its employees to find ways to give back to the communities where they live and work.

Traditionally, Citi's Global Community Day is celebrated annually through in-person events, bringing together Citi employees from all around the world, former employees, friends, and family members to participate in various service activities. — VNS
