Việt Nam rank second in wushu world championship

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam finished in second place with five gold medals at the World Wushu Championship, which closed on November 21 (Hà Nội time) in Texas, the US.

On the last day of competitions, the Vietnamese athletes secured three gold medals in the sanda (combat) discipline.

Huỳnh Đỗ Đạt won his first world title after beating Zhang Huan Yi of Chinese Taipei in the men's 70kg class final.

Nguyễn Thị Lan topped the women's 48kg podium after winning over Jenifer Kilapo of the Philippines.

Nguyễn Thị Thu Thủy wrapped up a golden day with her crown in the women's 60kg category, beating Roshibina Devi Naorem of India in the final match.

Their teammates also took two silvers in the men's 60kg by Nguyễn Mạnh Cường and men's 48kg by Trần Huy Hải; and two bronzes in the men's 52kg by Đinh Văn Tâm and women's 52kg by Ngô Thị Phương Nga.

Earlier, Đặng Trần Phương Nhi won two golds in the women's nangun and nanquan events.

Việt Nam team finish their world championship task, winning five golds, three silvers and three bronzes. 

Việt Nam placed second behind powerhouse China, which claimed 15 golds. The third overall place went to Macau with five golds.

The 16th world championship featured hundreds of athletes, including 13 Vietnamese, from 80 countries and territories. They competed for 22 sets of medal of taolu (peformance) and 14 of sanda for both men and women. VNS
