Việt Nam add one Asian Games silver in pocket

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam pocketed a silver medal in Xiangqi (Chinese chess) at the Asian Games on October 1 in Hangzhou, China.

The mixed team of Nguyễn Thành Bảo, Lại Lý Huynh and Nguyễn Hoàng Yến successfully booked a place in the final after their outstanding results of three wins, one draw and one loss in the qualification.

But in the final match, all three lost to the powerful rivals Wang Yang, Zhao Xinxin and  Wang Linna who they confirmed that were really strong with stable high performance.

The athletes will take part in the individual competitions in the next days.

The silver was the only one medal of Việt Nam in the eighth day of the Games' competitions. Earlier, all competitors in athletics, martial arts and weightlifting failed to make finals.

Việt Nam currently place No 17 with one gold, three silvers and 12 bronzes. — VNS
