HÀ NỘI — The Đất Sen Hồng-Đồng Tháp 2023 Marathon will take place on October 14-15 in Cao Lãnh City, Đồng Tháp Province.

The Masterise Homes Cup event is hosted by the provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism Department and managed by Nexus Sport Events.

The second marathon will feature nearly 6,000 runners competing in four AIMS-standard routes of 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km along with an 800m race for children.

According to organisers, the Đất Sen Hồng is expected to become a healthy and prestigious playground, where runners could secure their tickets to take part in major running races around the world.

Through the marathon, Đồng Tháp province's leaders want to introduce the image, scenic spots and peaceful people of the lotus land through sports and cultural activities. It is an important act to promote local trade and tourism, as well as attract strong domestic and foreign investments to the southern province.

The organisers also hope to develop the sporting movement and encourage local people to live a healthy lifestyle.

Prizes worth more than VNĐ230 million (US$9,500) will be delivered to winning athletes.

Marathon champions will take the highest bonus of VNĐ17 million while the top half marathoner will receive VNĐ10 million.

In addition to the awards for top three, runners finish from No 4 to N10 in marathon category also walk away with bonus in cash.

Other sideliner awards include best and most impressive cosplays and fastest running clubs in 42km and 21km.

At a recent press conference, Nexus Sport Events also launched their Vietnam Nexus Marathon Series (VNMS) which aims to spread the message of Sports Change Life.

Nexus has been carrying out its goals to organise high quality running events in Việt Nam.

A system of road races are displayed on the website vnms.vn, where participating athletes can search for their results and compare theirs with others.

As a member of VNMS, athletes will earn points after taking its tournaments. The higher points they get the more incentives they will receive from partners and sponsors of Nexus Sport Events.

With the orientation of building a healthy, positive and professional running community, VNMS hopes to be a place that promotes the sports spirit of everyone.

The company also expected to send Vietnamese athletes to world elite competitions in the near future and help them to proudly secure the podium. VNS
