HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam convincingly beat Bangladesh 6-1 in the women's football event at the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD) held in China on Monday.
The Vietnamese team displayed a dominant performance throughout the match. The team secured their victory with goals from Hải Yến, Thuý Hằng, Trần Thị Duyên, Bích Thuỳ (two), and Thái Thị Thảo. Parvin Masura managed to score a consulation goal for Bangladesh.
After the match, Coach Mai Đức Chung expressed his satisfaction with Việt Nam 's accomplishment of securing three points and emphasised the opportunity for his young players to gain valuable experience from the game.
But he believes that the young players still need to make further efforts to fully integrate into the team's playing style.
The 72-year-old coach praised his coaching staff for accurately assessing the strength of the Bangladesh team, particularly after observing their match against Japan. As anticipated, the opponent adopted a defensive approach and sought opportunities for counterattacks. Consequently, the coaching staff devised an appropriate strategy to counter their tactics.
Prior to this victory, Việt Nam had also defeated Nepal 2-0 in their opening match. Their next challenge will be against Japan on September 28 in the final game of the group stage.
Acknowledging the formidable nature of Japan as a strong rival, coach Chung acknowledged their impressive performance in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. He emphasised the need for Việt Nam to give their best effort in the upcoming match against Japan. VNS
