HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam did not qualify to compete in the coming FIFA World Cup 2022 but at least two Vietnamese will attend the global tournament later this month.
Việt Nam Football Federation President Trần Quốc Tuấn will take part in a FIFA Summit on November 20 in Doha, Qatar.
Through the summit, FIFA hopes to further increase its interaction with members of affiliated confederations, especially on key issues for the world’s football development.
Tuấn will then watch the World Cup opening ceremony, which will take place at the 60,000-seat capacity Al Bayt Stadium. It is one among eight official venues of the tournament. The opening match is between the host country of Qatar and Ecuador.

He is the second Vietnamese players to receive that honour. Previously, goalkeeper Bùi Tiến Dũng was invited to England World Cup 2018 to present the MVP award to midfielder Ivan Perisic of Croatia in the semi-final between Croatia and the hosts.
