HÀ NỘI - Lại Gia Thành has won two golds for Việt Nam at the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Bahrain.
The SEA Games champion lifted 120kg in the men's 55kg snatch to take the top podium. He lifted 142kg in the clean and jerk for a silver and his total of 262kg was the best among the athletes, bringing him a second gold.
Arli Chontey of Kazakhstan secured one gold in the clean and jerk (144kg), one silver for his total (260kg) and one bronze in the snatch (116kg). Mansour Al Saleem of Saudi Arabia won a silver in the snatch (119kg) and two bronzes in the clean and jerk (140kg) and total (259kg).
Earlier, Khổng Mỹ Phượng bagged two golds for Việt Nam in the women's 45kg class.

Phượng, who won gold and set records at the Hà Nội SEA Games five months ago, topped the snatch event with a lift of 78kg. She was second in the clean and jerk with 88kg. In the total, Phượng was the best again with 166kg.
Indonesian Siti Nafisatul Hariroh came second with a gold in the clean and jerk (91kg) and two silvers in the snatch (71kg) and total (162kg).
Harshada Sharad Garud of India took three bronzes with 68kg in the snatch, 84kg in the clean and jerk and 152kg in total.
Trần Thị Mỹ Dung's result of 80kg in the snatch placed her in second position but she failed in all three attempts in the clean and jerk, so she was disqualified from the women's 49kg pool.
Việt Nam still have two title favourites competing in the coming days.
SEA Games champions Hoàng Thị Mỹ Duyên and Nguyễn Thị Hồng Thanh will lift in the women's 59kg and 64kg, respectively.
The championships will conclude on October 16 in Manama City. VNS
