HÀ NỘI — The National Women's Football Cup will begin on August 6 with eight teams taking part in Hà Nội.
Teams will be divided into two groups and will compete in a round-robin format with top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
The semis will be held on August 18 while the final is scheduled for August 21.
"The National Cup is another event created for women players who will have more chance to sharpen their skills," said Lê Hoài Anh, general secretary of the Việt Nam Football Federation.
"Also, coaches and experts will be able to closely watch the players and select the best ones for the national teams who will participate in various international competitions including the World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand."
Last November, HCM City 1 defeated Hà Nội Watabe 1 by two goals to nil defend their trophy.
National team Nguyễn Thị Bích Thùy and Huỳnh Như scored for HCM City who picked up VNĐ100 million bonus.
The third place went to Việt Nam Coal and Minerals after they beat Phong Phú Hà Nam 3-2 in the penalty shootouts. VNS
