HÀ NỘI — Hải Phòng FC are top of V.League 1 following their 3-1 win against Bình Định on Tuesday.

Thanks to two-goal striker Rimario Allando Gordo and midfielder Nguyễn Hải Huy, Hải Phòng earned three points at home at the Lạch Tray Stadium.

After eight matches, the northern port city team have 14 points, one point more than Sông Lam Nghệ An, who lost to SHB Đà Nẵng 3-1, and three points more than Hà Nội FC.

Hải Phòng will lose top spot if Hà Nội beat Sài Gòn FC in the late match at Hàng Đẫy Stadium on Wednesday.

This is very possible as Hà Nội are rated higher than Sài Gòn FC who currently sit bottom.

Meanwhile, at Thiên Trường Stadium, Nam Định bagged a surprise 1-0 victory over Viettel.

Midfielder Nguyễn Thanh Bình of Viettel scored his own goal when he tried to control the ball in the 69th minute, causing the away team to lose.
