A 76-year-old man has died of COVID-19-related complications, the 48th death recorded in Việt Nam.

Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình has ordered HCM City authorities to tighten COVID-19 prevention measures at religious establishments, calling on religious followers to strictly comply with pandemic prevention regulations, following the largest cluster ever involving a religious mission in Gò Vấp District. 

A total of 251 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed on Tuesday raising the total number of patients in Việt Nam to 7,572.

Việt Nam hopes to receive more support from international organisations and countries around the world to access more sources of COVID-19 vaccines, health minister Nguyễn Thanh Long told an online meeting with representatives from the COVAX Facility scheme (COVAX) and health officials from a number of countries on June 1.

The measures are responses to different threat levels, which were colour-coded with red being the highest level of threat of infection, following by orange (high risk), yellow (medium risk) and green (new normal), on the epidemiologic map.
