HÀ NỘI — Deputy chairman of the Hà Nội People's Committee Chử Xuân Dũng has announced the suspension of more activities to strengthen COVID-19 prevention and control.

The decision followed the case of COVID-19 patient 3,634, who was tested positive to SARS-CoV-2 and had a complicated epidemiological history, travelled to many places including golf courses.

The municipal people's committee requested the suspension of sports activities with large crowds, golf courses, and golf training courses, starting from Thursday noon.

Hà Nội also planned to send inspection teams to check the observance of the committee’s instructions and strictly handle organisations and individuals that violate regulations.

"Heads of branches, levels and localities are responsible to the city's chairman if any violations occur under their management," Dũng’s said.

On May 11, the municipal people’s committee requested to suspend the operation of beer restaurants and told districts and towns to temporarily close wet markets.

The city has suspended non-essential businesses and services such as bars, karaoke, movie theatres, massage facilities, spas, gyms, stadiums and street iced tea vendors. — VNS
