HÀ NỘI — Sixteen new community cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Viet Nam on Sunday evening, all in the northern Hải Dương Province.

The new cases bring Viet Nam's caseload since the pandemic began to 2,001.

Fifteen cases were linked to the cluster in the industrial park in Chí Linh City and the patients have been under quarantine since the cluster was detected last week.

They tested negative for the first time of testing and positive the second time on Sunday.

They are being treated at the field hospital of Chí Linh City.

The other patient is related to the cluster in Lê Ninh Commune, Kinh Môn District and is being treated at the Hải Dương Medical Technical University.

As of Sunday, Việt Nam reported 2,001 cases of COVID-19. They include 1,111 cases of community transmission, with 418 posted since January 27, when the new outbreak started.

As many as 1,472 patients have recovered while the number of deaths stays unchanged at 35, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. — VNS
