HÀ NỘI — The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said on Wednesday two new COVID-19 patients were confirmed and 11 given the all-clear.
One of the two new cases is a local infection in Hải Dương Province. The 72-year-old man was taken to the Hải Dương General Hospital on Monday after showing symptoms of fever, headache and exhaustion.
He was confirmed positive with SARS-CoV-2 twice in Hải Dương and Hà Nội on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
The man has been taken to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hà Nội’s Đông Anh District for treatment.
Hải Dương Province People's Committee on Wednesday decided to isolate a residential area in Khay hamlet, Thống Nhất Commune in Gia Lộc District following the detection of the new case. The area will be cordoned off for 28 days starting Wednesday midnight.
The other new case is a 30-year-old man who was a crew member of a ship that entered Việt Nam from Japan through the Nha Trang port in the south-central province of Khánh Hòa on Monday.
He was confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2 on Wednesday and is now being treated at the Khánh Hòa Hospital of Tropical Diseases.
Of the 11 recoveries, six were from the Đà Nẵng Hospital for Lung Diseases and five from the Hòa Vang field hospital in Đà Nẵng.
Việt Nam’s total number of COVID-19 patients has reached 1,046 and recoveries 746.
Some 67,000 people remain in quarantine at medical facilities and their homes. — VNS
