HÀ NỘI — Another person has died in Việt Nam of COVID-19 complications, the 22nd coronavirus-related death in the country, health ministry announced on Saturday morning.
The latest fatality is a 63-year-old man with a number of underlying health conditions including end-stage renal failure, hypertension and heart failure.
He had also been receiving dialysis treatment for a number of years.
No details of where the man is from, or where he was being treated have been released at this stage.
The cause of death has been recorded as pneumonia caused by COVID-19, septic shock, multiple organ failure and end-stage chronic renal failure.
Meanwhile another new case was announced Saturday morning, bringing the total number of infections to 930.
The patient is a 41-year-old woman from Vụ Bản District in Nam Định Province.
She had previously been living in Russia where she tested positive for COVID-19 and was treated. After recovering from the virus she was repatriated to Việt Nam and immediately quarantined on arrival after landing on August 10.
She was tested again, and the results revealed she was once again positive for coronavirus. She is being treated at Nam Định General Hospital.
More than 115,000 people are currently in quarantine – more than 4,000 in hospitals, 25,000 in quarantine facilities and the rest at home. — VNS
