HÀ NỘI — A man from Hà Nội who works for a public transport company is among the latest people to test positive for coronavirus.
The 42-year-old was one of four new cases confirmed by the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Thursday.
He lives in Phúc Diễn Ward in Bắc Từ Liêm District in Hà Nội and had travelled to Đà Nẵng City with his family on July 14.
Since he returned to the capital, he has travelled extensively and also went to a karaoke bar with work colleagues.
The man is employed by October 10 Bus Enterprise Company which is part of Hanoi Transport Services Corporation (Transerco).
After returning from Đà Nẵng he went to the company’s office at Trần Vỹ Street, Mai Dịch, Cầu Giấy on July 18 and came into close contact with around 20 colleagues.
He also travelled to his wife’s shop on Nguyễn Quý Đức Street in Thanh Xuân District and on July 19, returned to his home town, Cầu Village in Yên Phúc Commune in northern Nam Định Province.
On July 22 the man went to a party with work colleagues on Trần Vỹ Street and went to a karaoke bar on Lê Đức Thọ Street in Nam Từ Liêm District.
He also visited his wife’s hometown in Lạc Thành Bắc Village in Tây Ninh Commune in northern Thái Bình Province.
After receiving his travel history, officials from Bắc Từ Liêm District authority began tracing anyone he had come into contact with since returning from the central city.
So far, they have tracked 68 people, but say there are more he may have come into contact with who are still to be found.
His apartment block has also been isolated and sprayed with disinfectant.
Three other cases confirmed on Thursday are all in Quảng Nam Province, aged between 42 and 45. They all had close contact with the positive patients at Đà Nẵng Hospital.
The patients are being quarantined and given treatment at Quảng Nam General Hospital.
Việt Nam’s total COVID-19 patient number stands at 717 with eight fatalities so far. More than 170,000 people are currently quarantined at hospitals, medical centres and their homes. — VNS
