HCM CITY — HCM City and neighbouring Long An Province have agreed to develop 23 transport works to enhance traffic connections between the two localities.
Nguyễn Hoài Trung, deputy director of Long An Province’s Department of Transport, said the city and province's people's committees on Monday (July 27) assigned its respective departments of transport to quickly complete legal procedures for the projects.
The construction projects are expected to begin next year.
Seven urgent works that will start first are expected to better serve travel needs and goods transport, ensure traffic safety, and reduce pressure on National Highway No 1A.
Of the seven, four routes will be upgraded and expanded with funds from the State budget under the medium-term spending plan from 2021 to 2025.
They include Nguyễn Văn Bứa Street in HCM City’s Hóc Môn District, connecting Provincial Road No 824 in Long An Province’s Đức Hòa District, with an estimated cost of VNĐ2.8 trillion (US$120 million).
Lê Văn Lương Street in the city’s Nhà Bè District will link with provincial Road No 826C in Long An Province’s Cần Giuộc District at a cost of VNĐ1 trillion ($43 million).
About VNĐ5.1 trillion ($220 million) will be used for Long Hậu Street in the city’s Nhà Bè District and Provincial Road No 826E in Long An Province’s Cần Giuộc District.
An upgrade and expansion will also take place on National Highway No 50 on a section extending from the city’s Bình Chánh District to Long An Province’s Cần Giuộc District.
The two localities also agreed to build a 8.6km parallel road to National Highway No 50, with an estimated cost of VNĐ4.3 trillion ($185.5 million).
Long An Province will build a new 7.5km route in Đức Hòa District that connects with northwest HCM City from Nguyễn Thị Tú and Vĩnh Lộc streets in the city’s Bình Chánh District to Đức Hòa District, at a cost of VNĐ6.4 trillion ($276 million).
HCM City plans to spend VNĐ3.3 trillion ($142.4 million) to link the city's Võ Văn Kiệt Street with provincial roads No 822, 823, 823B and 825 in Long An Province’s Đức Hòa District. — VNS
