 HÀ NỘI — A British man has been jailed for two years by a court in Hà Nội for trafficking drugs.

Andrew Eachan Alexander, 26, was caught in possession of two bags of cannabis, weighing around five grams, and three ecstasy tablets.

After his arrest in December, Alexander told police he had purchased the drugs from a man called Nguyễn Đức Mạnh who ran a restaurant in the capital’s Old Quarter.

Alexander told police he had been acting as a ‘middle man’ and had been buying drugs from Manh and then selling them on.

Based on the information he provided to police, officers raided Manh’s house and discovered more than 230 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of ketamine.

Manh was jailed for a total of 18 years and the court told his co-accused that after he completed his sentence he would be deported back to the UK. — VNS
