Twenty-one new COVID-19 cases confirmed on Monday evening

The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Monday evening announced 21 new cases of COVID-19. All are locally transmitted and linked to Đà Nẵng City.

HÀ NỘI — The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Monday evening announced 21 new cases of COVID-19. All are locally transmitted and linked to Đà Nẵng City.

Of the new cases, 15 cases are in Đà Nẵng and the other six are in the central province of Quảng Nam.

Six patients from 622 to 627 in Quảng Nam Province aged from 38 to 83 include three people who visited Đà Nẵng hospital, one person who is the caregiver of Patient 524, one person who had contact with Patient 524 and one person who is being treated at the Kidney Department of the hospital.

The six patients are under treatment at the Quảng Nam Central General Hospital.

Fifteen new cases in Đà Nẵng City aged from 20 to 78 include 12 who had close contact with Patient 456, Patient 509, Patient 488, Patient 501, Patient 510, Patient 426 and Patient 430; two cases who are caregivers for patients at Đà Nẵng Hospital; and another was detected when going to Gia Định Hospital for a health examination.

With the 21 new cases, Việt Nam has confirmed 642 COVID-19 infections, of them 307 are imported. As many as 195 cases were linked to Đà Nẵng since July 25 when a 57-year-old male patient was confirmed as positive for the virus. The case also marked the end of 99 days without community infections in Việt Nam.

Until now, 103,268 people have been quarantined, including 878 people quarantined at hospital, 14,852 people at quarantine areas and over 87,000 people quarantined at home.

Of the active cases nationwide, nine case tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, while 12 cases tested negative for the virus at least twice.

As many as 374 patients in Việt Nam have recovered from COVID-19 and six deaths were reported as linked to the disease.

Meanwhile, Patient 397 – a 58-year-old woman receiving treatment at Hải Dương Tropical Disease Hospital was given the all-clear on Monday.

The women was taken to the hospital on July 21 and tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 three times on July 27, 30 and August 2.

The hospital director Nguyễn Văn Hải said that all four COVID-19 patients treated at the hospital have been given the all-clear with Patient 397 the last. — VNS
