HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam confirmed another locally transmitted case of COVID-19 on Monday morning, a 60-year-old woman from Quảng Ngãi Province linked to the Đà Nẵng Hospital hot spot.

According to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control, she visited and took care of a sick relative at the hospital in the central city between July 18-22.

On July 31, the woman developed a fever and cough. A day later, she was tested for COVID-19 and the results came back positive on August 2.

This latest case brings the tally connected to Đà Nẵng to 174, which started with the detection of a 57-year-old male patient on July 25 and ended the streak of 99 days of no community infections in Việt Nam.

The outbreak has also resulted in six deaths, all of them with serious underlying health conditions.

Currently, there are 103,268 people quarantined in facilities across the country. — VNS
