Việt Nam confirms four new COVID-19 cases

Four new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Sunday morning, including a man living in HCM City who had been to Đà Nẵng for vacation.

HÀ NỘI — Four new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Sunday morning, including a man living in HCM City who had been to Đà Nẵng for vacation.

The new cases bring the total number of COVID-19 patients in Việt Nam to 590, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Among the patients, two are imported cases repatriated from Russia via Vân Đồn International Airport on July 17 onboard Vietnam Airlines flight VN5062.

In total, 21 people on that flight have so far tested positive for the virus.

One of the two community transmitted cases is a resident in HCM City. The 42-year-old man travelled to Đà Nẵng for summer holidays. He is being treated at the HCM City's Centre for Disease Control.

The other patient lives in central Quảng Ngãi Province. He had a close contact with COVID-19 patient No 517 at Đà Nẵng General Hospital. He tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on August 1 and is being treated at a local medical centre. 

As of Sunday morning, the total number of coronavirus cases linked to Đà Nẵng increased to 144 since July 25.

There have been three deaths related to the virus.
