One imported case of COVID-19 confirmed, infections stand at 373

A 53-year-old man who returned home to Việt Nam on a repatriation flight from Russia has tested positive for COVID-19.

HÀ NỘI – A 53-year-old man who returned home to Việt Nam on a repatriation flight from Russia has tested positive for COVID-19.

He is the 373rd person to contract coronavirus since the first case was recording back in January.

On July 9, he returned to Việt Nam on flight number VN5062.

After landing at Cần Thơ International Airport, he was sent to Cà Mau Province General Hospital for quarantine and tested positive on Sunday.  He is the third passenger from that flight to test positive for COVID-19.

Việt Nam has now gone 89 days without any community transmissions of COVID-19. 

Meanwhile two more patients have been given the all-clear from the virus bringing the total number of recoveries to 352 which accounts for 94.4 per cent of all cases.

They are a 47-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man.

More than 13,300 people who have returned home Việt Nam are currently in quarantine. 

Việt Nam is considering resuming commercial flights to and from China. Detailed information of conditions and dates the flights will begin are still to be confirmed. — VNS
