Mekong Delta builds new industrial park

The People's Committee of the Cửu Long (Mekong Delta) province of Đồng Tháp has decided to establish a new industrial park to attract investment and foster economic growth.

HCM CITY — The People's Committee of the Cửu Long (Mekong Delta) province of Đồng Tháp has decided to establish a new industrial park to attract investment and foster economic growth.

The Tân Kiều Industrial Park will be located in Tháp Mười District, according to Nguyễn Thanh Hùng, deputy chairman of the People’s Committee.

Investment for the 148-hectare industrial park is more than VNĐ1.2 trillion (US$51 million) funded by the central and local State budgets, including construction costs of VNĐ709 billion ($30.2 million) and compensation costs for site clearance of VNĐ382 billion ($16.2 million).

The project implementation period will be 50 years, according to the Đồng Tháp Building Materials & Construction JSC, the developer of the park’s infrastructure.

The park will include projects related to machinery manufacturing, agricultural equipment, fertilisers, pesticides, the food industry, agricultural and seafood processing, textiles, electronics, medicine, spices, packaging and feed.

The province will give priority to projects that encourage innovation and the use of high-tech equipment.

Operational industrial clusters and parks in the province include Sông Hậu, Sông Hậu 2 and 3, Sa Đéc, Ba Sao, Trường Xuân- Tân Thạnh industrial parks and Trần Quốc Toản, Tân Lập, Phú Hiệp, Phú Ninh, Tân Hựu, An Hòa and An Lộc industrial clusters. — VNS
