HCM CITY — A nature conservation NGO has planted nearly 2,000 trees belonging to a species of rosewood at Bến En National Park and Xuân Liên Nature Reserve in the northern province of Thanh Hóa in an effort to transform degraded watersheds into healthy forests.

The Gaia Nature Conservation Centre planted more than 1,000 trees in Bến En and 750 in Xuân Liên with assistance from 232 individuals and businesses starting on May 8.

The trees, a valuable timber, will be taken care of and monitored for four years.

The activity was undertaken as part of a programme called ‘Contribute a tree to create a forest’ that Gaia launched in March.
