HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health (MoH) has launched its #onhavanvui (#happyathome) campaign on the video-sharing network TikTok to encourage social distancing in Việt Nam’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Snappy videos on handwashing, mask wearing, health declarations and other preventative measures against the disease have been shared on the MoH’s official account at @boytevietnam since Sunday.

TikTok users are encouraged to post creative videos of activities at home, from cooking (#onhanoitro), exercising (#onhakhoemanh), dancing (#onhagiatri) or dressing up (#onhalamdep) to lift their mood and connect with the community amid the disease.

Leading content creators and celebrities have joined the campaign and showed their talents for making creative videos at home.

The campaign’s theme song “Sao anh chưa về?” (Why are you not home yet?) is performed by teen-pop idol AMEE.

As of Friday, the MoH account with the main hashtag of #BYT_nCoV, was followed by 15,000 users with more than 40,000 likes and one million views for its 22 animated videos on COVID-19 prevention.

TikTok is the most popular social network among Vietnamese Generation Z – who were born between 1996 and 2005.

The application hit 12 million users per month in Việt Nam in the first quarter of 2019. — VNS
