HÀ NỘI — Five more Vietnamese people have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the country's total number of cases to 174, the Ministry of Health confirmed on Saturday evening.

Three of them are connected to Bạch Mai Hospital in Hà Nội, which has been locked down after nine people at the hospital – including two nurses, one nurse's daughter, two patients, two patients’ relatives and two water delivery workers – tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. They bring the total number of COVID-19 cases relating to the hospital to 12.

The 170th case is a Vietnamese man, 27, living in northern Ninh Bình Province’s Kim Sơn District. On March 20, he took his father to Bạch Mai Hospital for emergency treatment. On March 20-22, he went to the hospital’s canteen five times to buy food and eat there.

On March 22, he went to Giáp Bát Coach Station from the hospital using a motorbike taxi and then took a coach to return home at 12pm. He started to have a fever later the same day and his wife took him to Kim Sơn District’s General Hospital for treatment on the evening of March 23. His clinical sample tested positive for SARS-COV-2 on March 25.

The 171st case is a Vietnamese student, 19, living in HCM City’s District 10. She was studying in the US and travelled to Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport in HCM City on March 13. She transitted in the Philippines.

She had no symptoms of COVID-19 upon her arrival, so she was requested to undergo self-quarantine at home. Her sample was taken for testing on March 24 following local authorities’ large-scale examination request on those coming back from the US and Southeast Asian region. The test result on March 28 confirmed she was positive for COVID-19.

The 172nd case is a Vietnamese woman. She is the daughter-in-law of the 133rd COVID-19 patient.

The 173rd case is a Vietnamese woman who was working in Moscow and returned to Việt Nam on March 25. She was taken to a quarantine centre in Hà Nội’s Thạch Thất District right after she entered Việt Nam.
