Việt Nam records 68th COVID-19 case

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s 68th COVID-19 case was confirmed on Wednesday morning by the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute. 

The male patient, 41, is an American citizen. He married to a Vietnamese woman and lives in the coastal central city of Đà Nẵng.

According to the Ministry of Health, he has travelled abroad since February 11 through numerous countries such as India, Spain, Morocco, Switzerland, Germany, Hungary and the Netherlands.

The patient took flight SQ323, seat 57H from Amsterdam (Netherlands) at 11:25am on March 13 and arrived in Singapore at 5:55am on March 14.

The patient travelled from Singapore to Đà Nẵng City on flight MI 632, seat 15F at 9:15am on March 14 and arrived at Đà Nẵng International Airport at 11am on March 14.

He was required to make a health declaration and be temporarily quarantined at the airport. He then was moved to Hospital No 199 at 2pm on March 14 for quarantine.

As of 7am on March 18, there were 198,178 confirmed COVID-19 cases around the world, including 80,884 in mainland China and 117,294 in 165 other countries and territories. The number of fatalities stood at 7,965, including 3,226 in mainland China, according to the health ministry’s public health emergency operations centre. — VNS
