Việt Nam records 61st COVID-19 patient

HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health on Monday evening reported four more COVID-19 patients in Việt Nam, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 61.

The latest patient, 42, lives in central Ninh Thuận Province’s Phước Nam Commune. He went to Malaysia on February 27 and returned Việt Nam on March 4 via Tân Sơn Nhất international airport in HCM City.

He started to show signs of sore throat and cough on March 10 and went to the provincial hospital for health check up on March 15. His sample was tested by the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute on March 16.

He is being quarantined and treated at a hospital in Ninh Thuận.

The 60th patient is a 29-year-old French man who was on a flight from France to Hà Nội’s Nội Bài International Airport on March 9, which also carried a person who tested positive for the virus.

After his arrival, he visited a number of places in Hà Nội and northern Ninh Bình Province before returning to Hà Nội on March 15. The same day, he was quarantined and had a sample taken which later tested positive. The patient is now in a stable condition.

The 59th patient, 30, lives in Hà Nội’s Long Biên District. She worked as a flight attendant on a flight from London to Việt Nam on March 2. The same flight carried others who tested postivie for COVID-19 earlier.

She started to cough and get fever on March 14 and tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on March 15.

The 58th patient, 26, lives in Yên Thế Street, Hà Nội’s Ba Đình District. She is a student in France. Her sample was taken for testing after she arrived in Việt Nam from France on Sunday via Nội Bài International Airport.

The two patients are being quarantined and treated at the hospital’s Tropical Diseases No 2 in Hà Nội’s Đông Anh District and are in stable health conditions. — VNS
