Việt Nam to build more seven expressways

The Ministry of Transport has submitted to the Prime Minister a plan to build seven more expressways by 2030.

HCM CTY — The Ministry of Transport has submitted to the Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc a plan to build seven more expressways nationwide by 2030.

The plan was made under the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister, proposals of localities, and forecasts of vehicular traffic on existing routes.

Under the plan, the northern region of the country would have three new expressways, including Điện Biên-Sơn La-Hòa Bình Expressway, Chợ Mới-Bắc Kạn Expressway, and an expressway that connects the uplands province of Hà Giang to Nội Bài-Lào Cai Expressway.

In the Central Highlands region, an expressway would be built from Ngọc Hồi District to the Bờ Y border gate in Kom Tum Province.

The southern region would have three expressways, including Gò Dầu- Xa Mát Expressway in Tây Ninh Province, Hồng Ngự-Trà Vinh Expresswayand an expressway that connects Trần Đế port to the Châu Đốc- Cần Thơ-Sóc Trăng Expressway.

These projects are expected to be completed before 2030.

According to the transport ministry, by 2030 the country’s road system will reach 6,418km of expressways. After 2030, it will add 932km of new highways with total investment of more than VNĐ129 trillion (US$5,5 billion). — VNS
