HẢI PHÒNG — A road linking Lạng Am and Nhân Mục bridges in northern Hải Phòng City opened to traffic on Sunday.

The project started in 2006 and cost VNĐ1.29 trillion (US$55.5 million ) from the State budget.

The project includes upgraded sections and new stretches with a total length of 15km.

“This is a key road connecting the city with other provinces in the south," said Hải Phòng People’s Committee Chairman Nguyễn Văn Tùng at the opening ceremony.

The road also linked key national highways 37 and 10, he said.

According to city authorities, the road would be extended to connect with a coastal road to promote industrial and agricultural production in Vĩnh Bảo District.

“Hải Phòng has been using public capital to invest in rural infrastructure with the aim of expanding the city’s economic zones,” said Chairman Tùng.

The city has also built a coastal road and the Hàn and Đăng bridges in Tiên Lãng and Vĩnh Bảo Commune.

The city is also building Sông Hoá Bridge linking Thái Bình Proivince; the Dinh and Quang Thanh bridges linking Hải Dương Province; and the Lai Xuân and Rừng bridges linking Quảng Ninh Province. — VNS
