Việt Nam wins silver medal at WorldSkills 2019

A Vietnamese team competing at the world championships of vocational skills (WorldSkills 2019) in Kazan, Russia won one silver medal, the highest achievement after seven times entering the tournament.

HÀ NỘI — A Vietnamese team competing at the world championships of vocational skills (WorldSkills 2019) in Kazan, Russia won one silver medal, the highest achievement after seven times entering the tournament.

Trương Thế Diệu, from the Việt Nam Training Academy of DENSO Vietnam Co.,Ltd, brought home silver medal in Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Milling.

Eight other Vietnamese competitors received awards for excellence. They are Phan Văn Quốc in CNC turning; Trần Văn Phúc in IT software solutions for business; Nguyễn Văn Quân and Nguyễn Văn Hưng in mechatronics; Bùi Duy Kiệm in bricklaying; Lê Thanh Dương in web technologies; Vũ Trọng Đạt in mechanical engineering CAD and Nguyễn Thái Phương in water technology.

Việt Nam ranks 25 among 63 countries and territories at the competition this year and had 19 competitors competing in 18 skills.

In previous years, the highest result Việt Nam achieved was winning two bronze medals.

The 45th WorldSkills Kazan 2019 was held for the first time in Russia between 22 and 27 August.

More than 1,300 contestants competed in 56 skill competitions across six skills sectors: Construction and Building Technology, Creative Arts and Fashion, Information and Communication Technology, Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Social and Personal Services, Transportation and Logistics.

The WorldSkills is held every two years around the world. The next host of 2021 will be China. — VNS
