THÁI NGUYÊN — Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hoà Bình has assigned the Government Inspectorate to look into the change of land use purposes of the Thái Hưng Eco City urban project in northern province of Thái Nguyên.

In a document sent to the Government Inspectorate, Bình requested inspectors to handle petitions regarding the Thái Hưng Eco City urban project.

Specifically, Gia Sàng Steel Rolling Mill was reported to have leased land, which was supposedly for the construction of steel rolling mill, to Thái Hưng Commerce JSC.

However, the land use purposes was changed. A complex of housing, school and commercial buildings, which was named Thái Hưng Eco City, has been built on the land.

In January, Bình asked Thái Nguyên Provincial People's Committee to inspect the revocation and conversion of land use purposes at Thái Hưng Eco City project.

In January 30, Thái Nguyên Provincial People's Committee reported the results of the inspection to the Government.

From February to July, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Justice, the Government Inspectorate and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment worked on the case.

However, during this time, the investor of the Thái Hưng Eco City project started selling the apartments despite the project having been revoked pending further inspections.

Bình asked that the inspection’s results must be reported to the Government in the last three months of this year.
