Bến Tre to build new 450-bed general hospital

Construction on the second branch of Bến Tre General Hospital in the southern province of Bến Tre was started on Sunday. After it opens in September 2021, it is expected to provide health services to about 2,000 people each day.

BẾN TRE — Construction on the second branch of Bến Tre General Hospital in the southern province of Bến Tre was started on Sunday. After it opens in September 2021, it is expected to provide health services to about 2,000 people each day.

The VNĐ 2.25 billion (US$97,000) construction is being funded by Pacific Healthcare Joint Stock Company and Nguyễn Đình Chiểu Hospital. The branch will also have a helipad.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyễn Viết Tiến said the construction of the new branch was an example of the private sector effectively participating in the healthcare sector.

Chairman of the province People’s Committee Cao Văn Trọng said the branch would help provide high quality healthcare services for people in Bến Tre and neighbouring provinces including Trà Vinh, Tiền Giang and Vĩnh Long. — VNS
