ĐÀ NẴNG — The central city’s Department of Home Affairs has dismissed reports circulating on social networks about the establishment of a new district named Hiếu Đức (separate from Hòa Vang District) on Wednesday.

Director of the department, Võ Ngọc Đồng, said on Friday that the city has not planned to establish a new district connected to current Hòa Vang District.

The rumours stated that the city would create a new district from four communes – Hòa Khương, Hòa Nhơn, Hòa Phong and Hòa Tiến – in Hòa Vang District.

Vice chairman of Hòa Vang District’s People’s Committee Đặng Phú Hành said the rumours were posted by a real estate broker just a day after the district released a warning about illegal property transactions and land speculation in rural areas.

Hành warned that the false information was intended to trick farmers and inexperienced investors. Brokers can earn huge profits from land transactions.

Some brokers also mentioned that land plots in rural communes had been sold for 10 times their true value.

Rumours on social networks in Đà Nẵng focused on unusual increases in land prices in the area – host to new investment projects.
