Hà Nội sets key tasks after Tết holiday

HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội People’s Committee Chairman Nguyễn Đức Chung has issued a document urging relevant agencies to focus on their work and avoid indulgence in post-Tết (Lunar New Year) festivities.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and localities were called to tighten the management and organisation of festivals, ensuring they take place economically and healthily with traditional cultural values preserved; besides ensuring security, traffic safety, environmental sanitation, and food safety and handling negative behaviors at festivals and tourist sites.

The Department of Transport was urged to coordinate with relevant agencies to increase the inspection and strengthen the control of the transport business in order to ensure traffic safety and order during the post-Tết festive season.

The Department of Public Security was directed to ensure political security, and social order and safety in the area; continue to deal with crimes, and take measures to prevent fires and explosion.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will oversee the completion of the winter-spring rice crop plan, proactive prevention of diseases in plants and animals, and effective implementation of tree planting along with afforestation and forest protection.

The Department of Industry and Trade will instruct the acceleration of industrial production and business activities; besides ensuring sufficient electricity demand, strengthening anti-smuggling activities, and trading counterfeit goods, and continue to boost administrative procedure reform for export promotion.

The Department of Planning and Investment will coordinate with relevant agencies to take measures to solve difficulties in business and production for enterprises and urge the implementation of key projects in the city.

In the document, Chung also called for public officials to focus on their tasks and missions immediately after Tết to create the most favourable conditions for production and business activities

They were also banned from using public vehicles to attend spring festivals and organise parties during working hours unless assigned by competent authorities.VNS
