HÀ NỘI — The Hà Nội Transport Corporation (Transerco) on Thursday officially introduced two new bus routes to strengthen links between the central city with suburban areas.

Routes 101B from Giáp Bát bus station to Ứng Hòa District’s Đại Cương station and 103B from Mỹ Đình bus station to Ứng Hòa District’s Hồng Quang station will connect urban areas, populated areas with suburban districts to help people travel more easily and conveniently.

Each bus can carry a maximum of 60 passengers and a one-way ticket will cost VNĐ9,000 (US$0.40).

Bus route 101B is identified with red and yellow branding, and meets the Euro 3 emissions standard with one bus running every 48-50 minutes. Route 103B has green branding and meets the Euro 4 emissions standard with one bus running every 20-30 minutes.

Buses on the new routes are decorated with images of pigeons and Khuê Văn Các (the Temple of Literature), and are equipped with services such as LED lights, a GPS and an automatic audio connection.

A Transerco official said the two new routes will directly connect communes in Ứng Hòa District to main bus stations in the city, adding: “The new routes will contribute to transporting passengers to major national roads. The price-subsidised public buses aim at increasing demand and minimise the number of personal vehicles entering the city centre.”

Since 2016, Transerco has opened 27 new bus routes linking the city centre with suburban areas and two high-quality routes to Nội Bài International Airport. Last May, it also introduced double-decker city tour buses.

Transerco has invested a large amount of money each year in buying new buses in order to improve the quality of public transport services. — VNS
