A fire broke out at a hotel in the Old Quarter of Hà Nội early on November 22, causing panic for many tourists. No fatalities have been reported.

HÀ NỘI — A fire broke out at a hotel in the Old Quarter of Hà Nội early on November 22, causing panic for many tourists. No fatalities have been reported.

The fire erupted at Moonview Hotel on Hàng Than Street.

Witnesses said the fire started at 6am on the ninth storey of the hotel, where the kitchen and restaurant were located.

Black smoke was seen rising from the hotel. Tourists, mostly foreigners, rushed to the balcony of the eighth and ninth storeys, shouting for help. Some even tried to climb out of the balcony to escape from the fire.

Local police in Nguyễn Trung Trực Ward managed to evacuate tourists to safe places and maintain traffic flow in the area.

Three fire trucks were mobilised to the scene. By 7am, the fire was stamped out.

There were no reports of any fatalities so far.

The cause of the fire is yet to be clarified. — VNS
