Women sentenced to 20 years for drug trafficking

People’s Court in the southern province of Tây Ninh has sentenced two people years in prison for cross-border drug trafficking and transportation.

TÂY NINH — The People’s Court in the southern province of Tây Ninh has sentenced two women to prison for cross-border drug trafficking.

Trần Thị Hằng, 36, a resident of Hải Phòng City’s Lê Chân District, and Đoàn Thị Thu Trang both received 20 years behind bars.

According to the indictment, on March 28 at the Mộc Bài International Border Gate in Lợi Thuận Commune, Bến Cầu District, Trang and Hằng were caught transporting nearly a kilo of ketamine from Cambodia.

They were hired by an unknown woman in Hải Phòng to transport the drugs via bus to Việt Nam.

They were arrested as they made their way home from the Mộc Bài International Border Gate by motorbike. — VNS
