HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc has lauded the operation of US firm Coca-Cola in Việt Nam, with the generation of thousands of jobs and the production of diverse products using domestic materials.

Along with fulfilling its tax responsibilities, the firm had also actively engaged in social activities, the PM said in Hà Nội on Friday while receiving Calin Dragan, director of Coca-Cola’s Bottling Investments Group in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Recalling his meeting with the Vietnamese leader in May 2017, Dragan said that he had taken on board the PM’s suggestions about increasing the use of domestic materials.

Thanks to Việt Nam’s policy to create favourable conditions, the firm had enjoyed good growth and become one of the 100 biggest tax payers in the country, he said.

Dragan revealed that Coca-Cola was seeking a suitable area in Hà Nội to open its fourth factory in Việt Nam, adding that the firm also planned to launch another factory in HCM City.

Dragan thanked the Government of Việt Nam and PM Phúc for creating a good environment for enterprises. He reaffirmed Coca-Cola’s commitments to fulfilling both its tax and social responsibilities.

The PM showed his delight at Coca-Cola’s plan to expand operations to the north of Việt Nam, especially a plan to build a US$300 million factory in Hà Nội.

The project is expected to produce both traditional and nutritious products with high added value using local materials, while generating jobs for thousands of direct and indirect labourers and developing a distribution network. — VNS
