HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội Police on Monday arrested and launched criminal proceedings against a man who was allegedly involved in trading human kidneys earlier this year.

The suspect Trần Văn Phương, 29, from the northern province of Bắc Giang, posted on Facebook seeking people who wanted to sell their kidneys. When Phương found people who wanted to buy a kidney, he would contact the potential sellers and then ask them to fill in a form that claimed they voluntarily donated the organ.

Since January 2018, Phương is accused of involvement in three kidney trade deals, in which the sellers received VNĐ250-320 million (US$10,740-13,750) each while the buyers had to pay VNĐ340-360 million ($14,600-15,470). — VNS
